The center focus of this assemblage is the nest, which was made by hand from retted iris leaf that was processed into pulp by boiling in lye for several hours, rinsing, and then reshaping the long-fibered pulp onto a 4-wheel drive hub cap. The process of making things by hand is a slow one, full of details, thoughts, and planning.
Expectation of Arrival
This assemblage contains many natural objects, such as moss and lichen, branch pieces, a feather and snail shell, combined with our more modern machined pieces like the brass rod, linen thread, plumbers chalk, charcoal, and even the cedar shingle.
